Wandmaker's Choice

So over the winter break, I decided to try my hand at wood turning again. I used to turn pens and such on a mini wood lathe and at some point attempted to make a wand.


These are so much better than that one, by far.

The smaller one is Rosewood 12", of the two it was the harder wood to turn. The grain is beautiful and it took to the wax really well.

The bigger one is Maple 13". I think it is a burly, or curly maple because of the little spirals that showed up after a good sanding.

I would like to make more when I get the chance, but I need to find longer pieces of wood and a longer lathe. These were such a joy to make!

And yes, they are inspired by the Harry Potter wands. I tried to come up with my own designs though.
